Protect Your PC for Free

Six recommended safety measures to protect your PC- and your all important files- easy to set up and they are free.

Protect your PC now for free:

1- SECURITY ESSENTIALS
download and install Microsoft's free security suite from www.microsoft.com/security-essentials/default.aspx.

2- WINDOWS FIREWALL
Ensure windows firewall is on Go to Control ---> Panel system and security --->windows firewall, this will prevent access to your PC through the internet.

3- INTERNET EXPLORER 8
Cookies can causes a security threat so it is a good idea to remove them; you can do this in internet Explorer 8 by going to safety---> Delete Browsing History.

4- THREATFIRE
Download Threafire (a free security suite from PC tools) from www.threatfire.com. The suite will then constantly check your PC security.

5- USER ACCOUNT CONTROL
Go to Control Panel ---> User Accounts and family Safety --->User Accounts with UAC switched on you will be asked for permission to run programs.

6- WINDOW BUCKUP
Go to backup and Restore Center ---> set up backup – choose a backup destination and select a frequency for how often to perform the backup.
